D. A. Teague, Artist
D. A. Teague was my mother. Much of what I learned about art, as well as about life I learned from her. I do not sell the original paintings she gave to me and my family, however, many of them are available in Giclee prints or poster.
Somewhere in Oregon, 1954 or 55
D.A. Teague 1936 -- 1999

Doris Anne Teague, nee Brown, grew up in Oklahoma. She and her sister Shirley entertained themselves as children by drawing and painting. At the age of 16, Doris met the love of her life, William Fred Teague. Fred was attending Murray College on the G.I. Bill when his roommate, Richard Pash who was dating Doris’ sister Shirley, introduced him to Doris.

Like many women of the 50’s,
Doris did not pursue a career in art except as a hobby. She devoted herself to her husband and daughter, finding time between cooking and cleaning to paint. She had no formal art education, although Doris was an avid user of the local libraries and learned art techniques by studying books, and later from programs on public television. She encouraged her daughter to paint and draw from an early age.

It was only in her 50’s that she found the time to paint more frequently.
Doris had an active and inquiring mind, and many of her paintings reflected her varied interests.
