Art
Collectors and art lovers are invited to Sierra Vista Mall in Clovis to look
(and maybe purchase!) out new art displays. The
Mall has always been a supporter of local art and artists, and on behalf of all
the art associations and individual artists, I want to thank Sierra Vista Mall
and Geanie Silva for allowing us to show our art to the Community and also
thank the men and women of the mall’s security and safety team who worked so
hard helping artists set up their exhibits.
If you haven’t made a trip to the mall to see the new art, you are missing an
opportunity to enjoy a unique cultural experience and support local art and
artists.
Starting at the East end of the mall on the
North Side in the old Hallmark store, Clovis Art Guild and the Alliance
of California Artists have just put
up new art displays. Both groups feature well-known artists with
regional, local and national prominence and the art is not to be missed.
Across
the aisle, Art-Tique has a display
of art by some exceptional local artists: Shirley Unruh’s bright colors, A.J. Sutton’s
misty watercolors, Jackie McCoy’s landscapes, Gail Daley’s abstracts and ethnic
portraits, Fernando Garcia’s tribal art,.
In 1079B, next to the Art-Tique group
display, Danny Ayres, celebrity
photographer debuts.
Across the Aisle next to AT&T, Stephanie Peugh brings her fresh, young, and inimitable art. Using acrylics,
paper, thread, glass, photographs, and fabric, pieces are produced with one
goal: to visually capture elements of the heart and faith. Often dream-like and
surreal in nature, Steph Peugh’s art work explores the human nature of love and
beliefs with color, authentic expression, and passion.
In Window Gallery no 1081, Photographer Jim Curnyn has exhibited
in numerous group and solo shows in central California. His work has won numerous awards in the
Fresno County Fairs, Fresno City College, and Public Broadcasting Station TV 18
auction. He has work in private and
public installations and has shown in numerous local art fairs. His main focus of interest is local
cityscapes and his latest show was in Fresno City Hall Oct 2010 titles “Fresno
Cityscapes”. Jim is a member of Spectrum Art Gallery, a gallery dedicated
solely to fine art photography, since 1995.
ArtQuest, an informal group of local artists started
by the late Monte Guynes have a new display celebrating summer in the old “Z
Fashion” storefront just after you reach Center Court.
On the West end of the mall across from
Kohl’s is a great display of glass and pottery by the San Joaquin Clay and
Glass Association.
