This design was accepted as a mural for
freeway 168. The mural format was designed by the Fresno Rotary Club as a method to both promote
public art and at the same time decorate a barren expanse of road in such a way
as to conserve water. The actual murals are 8 feet x 20 feet and made of 1”
glass or ceramic tiles. The murals are assembled by local high school art
departments.“Transitions” was installed
May 30, 2009 at
the intersection of freeway 168 and Bullard Avenue in Clovis.
The City of Clovis is attempting to make the transition from
a small cowboy town to a big city yet retain the flavor that makes Clovis “A Way of Life”.The Mural shows a cowboy in turn of the century clothing, walking out of
the dust into the modern world. Contemporary life is depicted by the up-to-date
house with the deck, basketball hoop and the SUV.
